Computer Technologically Correct

The thing about producing a show with entertainers is that sometimes we need to entertain elsewhere. Steve occasionally is off juggling as Showtime Steve. Marie may be off performing with the Mad Horse Theater Company. Molly may be off with the Chamber of Comedy or might need to be away for her work at Warp + Weft. Nate might be off with the Chamber of Comedy. Bob might be off with Sleuths Mystery Entertainment. Okay, who are we kidding, Bob will never be off. CarlaRose might be off doing all of the mysterious magic theater/comedy/singing/superhero/supervillian/whatever that she does when she’s not at the school.

The point is that there is a chance we won’t all be able to tape every show. It was time to welcome another member of the faculty. It was time to grow the Balderdash Academy family once more.

Well, that time is now. We have offered a Special Guest Professor position to actor, playwright, improviser, nice guy, and general everyone’s-all-around-favorite-human,™ Randy Hunt. He said: “Oh gosh -- that sounds fun! I'd love to!” Which is the most Randy sentence that could ever exist. And yes, that is a direct quote.

“Oh gosh -- that sounds fun! I'd love to!”

Randy Hunt

“So who is this Randy fellow, kind sir?”

Glad you asked old-timey time traveler. Randy is one of those all-around theateristas (new word, feel free to use it, credit me, Alan Smithee.) Acting, directing, playwriting, reluctant stage-managing, improvising, he’s done it.

He is a lauded actor receiving critical praise from those whose opinions matter for his roles as Frederich Fellows in Noises Off at Schoolhouse Arts Center, Oliver Warbucks in Annie at Windham Center Stage Theatre, and again at Lisbon High School / Community Theatre.

He is an award-winning playwright who, along with our Headmaster, are proud members and participants of the Crowbait Club playwriting deathmatch. Yes, it is as cool as it sounds. His play Mummy and Me was recently performer on At the Table: A Play Reading Series. He is also on track to release his first full-length play Inside Man to the world in 2021.

Randy is an improviser. Improvisation is the one common thread among the faculty of the school. He’s a joy to be on stage with and really embodies the improv ideal. He is a proud member of the ComedySportz Maine improv team and can often be found on our sister-in-spirit show, The Same Game, from our friends at The Fresnel Theater.

Randy also hosts the podcast We All Have a Story, which highlights the stories of the people around us. It’s a casual conversation with everyday people. Since Randy is so easy to talk to you can actually hear the people he interviews let down their guard and just talk. I’m hooked on it. He even had Bob on the podcast.

We are thrilled that Randy has joined our faculty as our Professor of Computer Technology. If you already know him, you already love him. If you don’t, make sure to watch when he premieres Thanksgiving week in Episode 12.

To quote the great LeVar Burton: “but you don't have to take my word for it.” Check out his website for more information,  www.randyhunt.info.
