Ep 5, Pt 5: Technically Correct with Dr Hal Cohen
In this special episode of Balderdash Academy we get the deets on the eggs and the seamen who love them. Yes, I know what I wrote. No, I spelled it correctly.
Professor of Home Ec & Wellness, Marie Stewart Harmon, teaches us about egg substitutes. It’s a pretty useful segment, all in all. You actually can learn something through our show, other than the fact that our faculty only pretend to know things.
This is the whole thing, all five parts of Episode 5. Why wait?
Bob was talking about how his son is allergic to many things like milk, nuts, eggs, etc., and agreed to share the recipe he developed for dairy and egg free vegan pancakes. Yes, he actually developed the recipe. I guess the whole “doesn’t sleep” bit was actually the truth. I’ve had these and they are fantastic.
Bob’s Balderdash Academy Pancakes
1 1/2cups flour
3 tablespoons granulated sugar (less if using sweet soda)
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt (or to taste)
Selected seasoning
1 (12-ounce) can of carbonated beverage (beer, soda, etc)
Splash of Milk (Oat, Soy, Almond, Cows, etc)
Combine all dry ingredients, mixing well.
Slowly add in the carbonated beverage while mixing.
Add Milk until the batter reaches the desired consistency.
Cook as you would a regular pancake, waiting for bubbles to form before flipping.
For his kids, Bob will sometimes use Moxie or Root Beer as the liquid and omit the sugar. His favorite is made with micro-planed orange zest, demerara sugar, and either Allagash White, Cisco Grey Lady, or Newburyport Plum Island Belgian White.
